Southern
Patagonia is a country of unspoiled wilderness and solitude:
bleak windswept plains, great mountain ranges and immense
glaciers.
Day 2-4 In Chile we visit the fantastic granite
towers of the Torres del Paine (Chile) mountain range (entrance
town: Puerto Natales), Chile's most important touristic destination
and a paradise for climbers and hikers.
Day 5-6 In Argentina, just across the Chilean
border, our rolling transport along the legendary Ruta 40
offers breath taking views upon hurds of guanacos (lama species)
and ñandus (ostrich species). Along this Ruta 40 two
of the top attractions of Argentinean South Patagonia are
located. We see gigantic icebergs falling off the 5km long
and 60m high cracking glacier Perito Moreno near El Calafate.
Day 7-9 Also along the Ruta 40 in Argentina
we walk in the amazing Fitz Roy mountain range (entrance town:
El Chalten). Here we make also a spectacular glacier walk.

Day
10-13 We cross the Strait of Magellan to Fireland
(Tierra del Fuego) and take a walk into the National Park.
We visit the small city of Ushuaia at the end of the world
and make a boat trip to sea lion colonies.
Day 14 Nearby Punta Arenas we
visit a pinguin colony. |
